The Co-op is involved in several programs for Youth including the Youth to Washington program (high school sophomores & juniors), Electricity School (ages 8-18), and the IEC Memorial Scholarship program (high school seniors). For more information on each of these programs, see below: 2012 Youth To Washington Contest Four area high school sophomores and/or juniors will win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. in an annual contest sponsored by Adams Electric Cooperative of Camp Point and Adams Telephone Co-Operative of Golden. Consider a Thomas A. Moore IEC Memorial Scholarship available for Illinois high school seniors. Students must be a senior and the son or daughter of a cooperative member, employee or director. Eight scholarships will be awarded through the Illinois Electric Cooperative (IEC) Memorial Scholarship Program. Each scholarship is worth $1,250.00 General College Scholarships • 4 scholarships are available for the sons/daughters
of Illinois cooperative members for any two or four
year accredited college in the United States. Lineworker School Scholarship • 1 scholarship (New this year!) is reserved for the son/daughter of an Illinois cooperative member, employee or director or an individual who has served or is serving in the U.S. armed forces or National Guard. This scholarship will help pay for costs to attend lineworker's school conducted by AIEC in conjuction with Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL. Electricity School is open to all youth, ages
8-18, not just 4-H members. Activities vary year-to-year. Students typically participate in a morning game show, watch a Power Town safety demonstration or a basket truck demonstration and various workshops. There is no charge for the event
but students must pre-register by completing an application and health form to be eligible.
